The Planning and Development Services Department is responsible for the supervision and administration of various codes to safeguard the life, health, and welfare of the public, and for the protection of property.

This includes:

  • Building, mechanical, plumbing, gas, and electrical inspections
  • Implementation of annexation plans
  • Continued use and occupancy of structures
  • Junk and debris control
  • Weed control
  • Issuance of permits
  • Construction plan review
  • Enforcement of subdivision and zoning ordinances     

Demolition of Dilapidated Structures

Through a cooperative effort between the City of Sweetwater and Sweetwater EDC, the corridors and neighborhoods have started undergoing a cleanup. Dilapidated structures are being demolished to help beautify the community of Sweetwater.
