The Newman Dog Park opened in 2019 and is maintained by the City of Sweetwater. The dog park was funded by SEED, MDD. City crews are responsible for mowing, weed eating, and spraying for weeds and stickers.

The one acre dog park is separated by fencing to accommodate small and large dogs. Dogs that are 30+ pounds are considered large dogs. Dogs that are 29 pounds or less are considered small dogs. The park features agility equipment, water fountains and dishes, and clean-up stations.

Dogs must be healthy, parasite free, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Puppies under four months are not permitted at the dog park. A maximum of two dogs per owner are permitted in the dog park at one time. Dogs must be leashed when entering and exiting the dog park. Dog handlers or owners must be at least 12 years of age. Children under the age of 12 must have adult supervision.
