It's Possible in Sweetwater: Creating Pride in Youth Sports at Fraley Park

Julie Lawther is a local artist in Sweetwater, Texas. She started spending more time at the softball fields when her granddaughter started playing softball. She noticed the bleachers and concession stand at Fraley Park were in need of a facelift. She worked with the City of Sweetwater, the Softball Association, and donors to purchase supplies and begin work on a mural. She says its her way to give back to the girls and instill a sense of pride every time they take to the field. She still has some painting to complete at Fraley Park and plans to begin her next project at Jones Park in the fall. The City of Sweetwater would like to thank Julie Lawther for giving back to the community.

It's Possible in Sweetwater: Making a Splash with the Pool Project

Sweetwater High School students Brody and Mallory Gibson noticed a lack of seating and shade at the Sweetwater Municipal Pool. As part of their DECA project, they decided to take matters into their own hands and fundraise to provide these improvements to the pool. After visiting organizations and businesses, the brother-sister-duo raised $4,771; far surpassing their goal of $2,500. The donation will be used to purchase seats, umbrellas, and tables for the pool, all installed before opening day this Saturday, May 25th! Thank you, Brody and Mallory for showing everyone that It's Possible in Sweetwater!

The City of Sweetwater works to provide a handout of monthly announcements to all residents that hold a water account. The handout is mailed to every resident with their monthly utility bill. If a resident has opted into paperless billing, the handout is sent to them via the email provided. Additionally, copies are available at the Utilities Billing Office at City Hall. You can sign up for paperless billing here.
